Top teams awarded for sustainable supply chain solutions in 4flow challenge Europe

International case study competition with over 75 students celebrates innovation and upcoming supply chain talent

This year’s 4flow challenge Europe, 4flow’s supply chain case study competition for students, concluded last week with two days celebrating and nurturing upcoming supply chain talent.

The competition drew over 50 master’s students in 18 teams from 13 universities in Germany, France, Spain and England, making it the largest 4flow challenge yet. This year's challenge focused on sustainable transformation, an area of growing importance in today's supply chains. In several rounds of rigorous evaluation, the teams demonstrated their analytic skills, creativity and aptitude for supply chain as they developed a strategy for sustainable procurement, transportation and distribution. The teams were mentored throughout the competition by experienced 4flow consultants.

The competition finals took place in the 4flow office in Hamburg, Germany, on June 6 and 7. Six teams competed in this final round:

  • Planet Positive from the University of Applied Sciences in Berlin (HTW Berlin)
  • Chainwise from the Technical University of Berlin
  • Sustain4ce from the Technical University of Berlin
  • SusLog from the Technical University of Berlin
  • 4ierce from Kühne Logistics University
  • SynergiX from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya

There, they gained insights into daily work at a global supply chain consulting firm and joined networking events with the other student teams and 4flow consultants. Additionally, each team presented their solutions to a panel of expert supply chain judges.

In an award ceremony, the team Chainwise (Technical University of Berlin) were announced as the first-place winners, impressing judges with their outstanding solution for sustainable supply chain transformation. Second place was earned by SusLog (Technical University of Berlin), while the teams 4ierce (Kühne Logistics University) and SynergiX (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya) tied for third place.

“Congratulations to all the participating teams for making this year’s 4flow challenge an exciting case study competition. The finalists’ presentations demonstrated creativity, feasibility, and potential for significant real-world impact, setting them apart as the leaders of tomorrow. We're excited to congratulate our top teams – SusLog, 4ierce, SynergiX and our first-place winners Chainwise”, commented Andreas Mager, partner at 4flow consulting.
